This college project gave the class the freedom to write and design a book on any topic or subject they wished. I chose to do my book on Jake Gyllenhaal's ability to act with just his eyes.
I chose to do this because in many films of his, director have often chose to single out his eyes within the frame, purely because they're so communicative. His eyes add subtle nuances to add layers to each of the characters he plays.
The design of the book was based of that of an actual film script. Using the exact same font, font size and headers that would be used for Hollywood scripts.
After studying his ‘eye-acting’ in depth, I narrowed down my selection of films to focus on to 7. These included:
- Nightcrawler
- Enemy
- Donnie Darko
- Nocturnal Animals
- Brokeback Mountain
- Southpaw
- Prisoners
